Most parents: Fundamental belief in the extraordinary potential of their children. Spend enormous time and resources creating an environment which will help them achieve great things.
Most bosses: Hire staff and place them in a generic environment designed for factory workers; safe and functional. Fire the staff when they don’t perform and hope that next time our HR team manage to find ‘better’ people.
Every single human being is the most complex entity in the known universe.
As leaders, let’s act more like parents and spend our time creating an environment where we can watch the hidden talents, creativity and passion of our staff emerge.
